Weekly Update: Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire Event

Aug 7, 2020

Later this month we are holding an event specifically aimed at employers in the Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire areas to discuss and share experiences on how they can support staff with caring responsibilities.

Carer Positive awarded employers including Renfrewshire Council and East Renfrewshire Council will be amongst those attending, and Tom Arthur, MSP for Renfrewshire South, and co convener of the Cross Party Group on Carers in the Scottish Parliament will open the event and share his insight into being a Carer Positive employer himself.

If you are in Renfrewshire or East Rengrewshire area, we would love for you to join us on Tuesday 18th August, from 10.30am till 12pm for this workshop, to learn about the challenges faced by working carers, any barriers they face themselves as employers, and what support might be helpful in developing their own support for staff who are carers.

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted even more the vital job that unpaid carers undertake in caring for family members and friends. For those carers also juggling their caring role with paid employment, this can often be particularly challenging, and it is important that employers provide the right support to enable employees them to manage both work and caring roles. The Carer Positive scheme supports organisations to do this, and awards recognition to organisations with good workplace support in place.  Please take a look at the rest of our website for more information on how to participate, and check out the range of free support and information available.

If you would like to attend, please email info@carerpositive.org and we will send you an event invitation with link and joining instructions.

Although this event is aimed specifically at employers in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, we are keen to encourage employers throughout Scotland to take part in the Carer Positive scheme. We hope to hold similar events targeting other areas of the country in the near future, so please contact us if you would like to be involved in this - our aim is to see carers being supported in their places of work as the norm throughout Scotland!
