Carer Positive and Fair Work Event at RBS
Last Friday was finally the day our event in conjunction with the Fair Work Convention and hosted by RBS at their headquarters in Gogarburn, Edinburgh.
Lorraine Lee from the Fair Work Convention
Mhairi Anthony from RBS was kind enough to introduce each of our speakers which included an opening address from Joe Fitzpatrick MSP, then overviews of Carer Positive and the Scottish Government's Fair Work initiative from out own Sue McLintock and Lorraine Lee from the Workplace Equalities Team at the Fair Work Convention.
Peter Lawson from RBS
The other speakers were from Carer Positive accredited organisations who were able to share their individual experiences on the challenges and process of supporting carers in their workplaces. These speakers included:
Peter Lawson, Global Co-chair and Carers Lead from the RBS Family and Carers Network
William Johnson and Adrian Marshall from Scottish Water Carers Network
Lenore Robson, Principal HR and OD Advisor at Renfrewshire Council
An enthusiastic Question and Answer session
Attendees included a mix individuals from Carer Positive organisations and others who were interested in the scheme. we were really pleased to see how engaged everyone was, particularly during the Q&A session and how discussion continued into the networking lunch at the end of the event.
Scottish Water receiving their Exemplary award
We were also able to use the opportunity to present William Johnson and Adrian Marshall with Scottish Water's Exemplary level Carer Positive award. This is our highest level of award and acknowledges the organisation's committed efforts to supporting carers in the workplace.
Many thanks again to everyone who came along on the day, particularly our speakers and Mhairi Anthony from RBS for all her work organising and introducing the event. We were thrilled with how the day went and look forward to doing something similar again in the near future.
