Perth and Kinross Employers Workshop

You are invited to join us on Wednesday 20th April, at 2pm for a Carer Positive information and workshop session with Perth and Kinross based employers to discuss and share experiences on how employers can support staff with caring responsibilities.

Carer Positive awarded employers from the local area; Perth and Kinross Council, Pain Association Scotland, Horsecross Arts and PKAVS, will be amongst those in attendance and able to share their insights into the process of creating a supportive working environment for carers.

We would also like as many other local employers as possible to attend, to learn about the challenges faced by working carers, as well as discuss any barriers they face themselves as employers and how to overcome these issues to develop their own supportive working environments.

As you will be aware, the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted even more the vital job that unpaid carers undertake in caring for family members and friends. For those carers also juggling their caring role with paid employment, this can often be particularly challenging, and it is important that employers provide the right support to enable employees to manage both work and caring roles. As many organisations discuss return to workplace plans and new models of hybrid working, there is a good opportunity just now to ensure that the needs of carers are reflected in these considerations. In addition to supporting carers, one of our key messages is that this supports the strength and wellbeing of the whole organisation, benefiting recruitment, retention and resilience.
