Carers Week 2022 - A Whirlwind Roundup!
Lets catch up on everything we've been doing to "Make Caring Visible, Valued and Supported" foCarers Week...
Awards Awards Awards
Kicking off in best way on Morning morning, we presented NHS Dumfries and Galloway with an Exemplary level Carer Positive award. Exemplary level awards always feel particularly special because the organisation has been working with us for some time and they have really developed the workplace support available.
Later in the week we joined the Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service to welcome them as a new Carer Positive employer. COPFS already have excellent support in place for carers at the organisation so I'm sure we will see them again for the next level in the near future.
We would also like to specially mention QME Care who were also due to be presented with a new Carer Positive award this week however the event had to be cancelled due to covid. We hope everyone there is feeling better soon.
Events and Presentations
As well as speaking at the award presentations mentioned above, Sue was asked to speak at internal events for the Scottish Public Pensions Agency, STV and Historic Environment Scotland this week.
We also hosted our own events, including a Support Group for Working Carers in the Grampian area and a really interesting employers event with VOCAL, which focused on new legislation coming in and the legal standpoint on workplace suppport for carers. Donna from Blackadders was kind enough to speak the the event and you can read her own Carers Week blog post here.
Carers Week was all over the media this week, supported by new research launched by Carers UK. You can read more about this and the Carers Scotland press relesase here.
Case Study Videos
We were thrilled to be able to lauch the first two of our new employers case study videos this week featuring the Phoenix Group and NHS Highland. Watch them both below.
Carers Week Pledges
Finally, it was fantastic to see so many Carer Positive employers making a pledge and supporting the Carers Week campaign. You can see all the Carers Week pledges and make your own on the Carers Week website but here are a few highlights...
